The Homeschool Mother's Journal - 12

In my life this week...

Temperatures in the 70's!  Oh what gorgeous days we are having!!  We have enjoyed the outdoors this week and took a little break from book work.

In our homeschool this week...

We finished our last week of Classical Conversations (CC).  We took a field trip to Bentonville Battleground and we enjoyed the great outdoors!

Places we're going and people we're seeing...

This week we will have our end of year CC party.  We also have a skating party and a field trip scheduled to the Renaissance Fair.

My favorite thing this week was...

The gorgeous weather!!!  And enjoying quiet time first thing with my Lord!

What's working/not working for us...

Everything is going smooth right now!

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have...

Do you school year round?  Please share your schedule with me!

A photo, video, link, or quote to share...

We have worms - or larval at least!  I've always wanted to do this!  Painted Lady Butterflies will hopefully be coming up soon!

  1. We've done the hatching butterflies project at least 3 times, it's so fun:)

My oldest will be schooling all year round for the first time so he can graduate a year early. Will be interested in how that goes. Going to have to keep the younger ds busy so he doesn't distract big brother but haven't figured out how I'm going to do it. Not much help but it's another opinion:)

  2. Glad to see someone having a smooth week :-)

We school year around. It gets so stinking hot down here that summer is actually the best time to get the most accomplished (and the kids are agreeable to it....) We generally school 6 weeks 'on' and 1 week 'off' or a really light week with whatever subjects absolutely have to be done. We take more time off in November and March when it's more temperate.

I hope you have a great week - and I'm now following you via GFC :-)

  3. We school year round, in a way, because having that three month break in the summer was a killer for all of us!
So we go: 3 months on, 1 month off. This also gives us 39 weeks of school instead of the regular 36, so I have 15 extra days to either use up as "sick days" or to spread out our work a little. This schedule really works for us.

  5. I love my quiet time in the morning, too. I have to get up early as well, and I don't always do it. But it is so worth it to go to bed on time and start my day with a cup of coffee and God.
