2013-2014 School Planning Time

We have been enjoying the long (and rainy) summer days!  But I know in the back of my mind that back to school is right around the corner.  So, I'm taking little chunks at a time to gear up for the big day which looks like August 19th for us.  I know I want to finish by the end of May so I work backwards allowing some flex days when things just don't go as planned.  :)

Thanks to Joy at 5 J's for the yearly calendar.  I use it every year for my annual planning.  She offers it for free here!

  1. Hey Melissa! Thanks for sharing this calendar, it's really going to help me with scheduling our weeks. Do you use this with your WPD Planner?

  2. Yes except I don't use the WPD for subjects. I use it for schedules and todos more than anything and I love all the extras it includes like attendance, bill paying, report cards, etc. With the MFW grid, I really don't need the subject planning part.

  3. Thanks Melissa. Since we also use MFW, do you simply write the other subjects on the MFW grid, and keep the other sheets in some sort of binder? I'm really trying to streamline my homeschooling organization this year. With the WPD, MFW grid, and other subjects, I'm having a hard time planning!

  4. Yes, that's exactly what I do! I made 3 copies of the CTG grids and filled them in for myself and gave the other 2 to my children for their checklist. It really worked well for them and me! During this summer planning session, I take the lessons and divide them up during the weeks/days needed. For instance, if a subject has 180 lessons, I know we have to do that subject 5 days a week all 36 weeks. If it has less, I can spread it out more. Hope that makes sense!!

I'm going to try to post my current system soon but it is very similar to this post...http://www.gchomeschool.com/2012/05/5-days-of-homeschool-life-day-2.html
