Schoolhouse Crew Review: Schoolhouse Teachers

Photobucket

I've been a member of SchoolhouseTeachers.com for a little while now.  Honestly, it leaves me speechless - in a good way!  There are SO many different curriculum offers available after joining that it can become overwhelming fast.  My first suggestion would definitely be to start with the site tour videos.

Some of the biggest names in online and home education - Kim Kautzer(writing), Diana Waring (history), Terri Johnson (geography), Adam Andrews(literature), the Hands of a Child team (lapbooking), Malia Russell (home economics), George Escobar (filmmaking) have teamed up to bring you loads of lessons!

Subjects you can find at SchoolhouseTeachers.com include Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Geography, History, Home Economics, Literature, Math, Music, Reading, Writing and many more.  You have access to daily, weekly, and monthly lesson plans and assignments 24/7/365!  The fun doesn't stop there though, your membership also includes...

  • The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine delivered straight to your inbox, monthly.
  • All The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine digital back issues—easily searchable, a fantastic feature that enables you to go directly to articles of interest.
  • The Homeschool Minute™ weekly E-Newsletter.
  • Download all five Schoolhouse Planners—the Parent version (hundreds of pages), all Student planners (3 versions) and the Special Needs planner.
  • 12 E-books from the Schoolhouse Store—one per month during the first year of membership.
  • All available TOS Expo-To-Go recorded sessions—including all future recordings, for the duration of membership.
  • After 12 months of uninterrupted membership, you will receive a $25 gift certificate to the “Totally TOS” section of the Schoolhouse Store.
Some of my favorites that I've found so far are...
  • Schoolhouse planners - if you love picking and choosing to make your own planner then these are for you
  • College Choice Guidance - Since we have a freshman in our homeschool this year, I'm devouring all I can on this topic.  Some things you'll learn are how to find the best fit for you child, how to increase your high school's students financial aid eligibility, how to get free money, and help in paying for your portion without going broke!
  • Figures in History - Each month's focus is on a new history figure with weekly hands on activities included.  Right now we are enjoying learning about Betsy Ross.
  • Geography - right now it is based on the olympics - love that current events are incorporated to help us teach.
I could go on and on!  We love so many of the different treasures you'll find at SchoolhouseTeachers.com.  It's not only enrichment classes, lesson plans, and unit studies but it feels like a family of experts sitting by at my disposal!  I love there motto of point, click, and teach. They really have made it that easy.  I cannot imagine anyone NOT finding something here they love.

Here's is just a sampling of what is new this week...
  • Enjoy the Summer Olympics with your family during the second week of our new unit study: go to Summer Olympics under the SchoolhouseDailies tab. Take a look at the history of boxing and fencing while you practice vocabulary. Learn about water sports, from white water rapids to still waters. From parallel bars to lines of latitude, explore the world of gymnastics and the world around you. And much more . . .
  • Also under SchoolhouseDailies: explore a monolith of mystery and join Everyday Easels as we explore Stonehenge! Take a look at geography, ancient history, and vocabulary, and make a model of your own! It may just be good enough to eat!
  • Meet Abbie from Maine in Everyday Explorers-USA, journey to the settlement of Pemaquid, and help flip some fish before a storm blows in. . . . Join Will in Everyday Explorers-Canada as he introduces us to the province of Nova Scotia. Take a look at Ft. Anne almost four hundred years ago, in 1629. Then, explore Grand Pré in 1730 and learn about a remarkable system of dykes that still stands today!
  • From books to golden plates, from Venezuela to Sydney, travel with us through This Day in History as we explore how to create a character, the vast history of Persepolis, the wildlife of Venezuela, an Olympic milestone, and a great deal more.
  • Find new studies in Summer Shakespeare, and new material in Daily Grammar and Daily Math.
You can also download samples to help you make your decision.

Preview the site for the first month for only $1.  After that, membership remains the low cost of only $5.95/month.  For a 10% savings, you can join yearly for $64.26.

I think you will find just what you are looking for at SchoolhouseTeachers.com.
