Weekly Wrap Up - Uhm or maybe the monthly one!

I have been so slack in posting our weekly wrap ups and I love going back to look at these!!  Worse of all, that was one of my New Year's goals!!

So, I'm posting a few weeks together to catch up.  I've mentioned before that this is a milestone crazy year for us. We have one graduating, one beginning his driving journey, and one becoming a teenager!  I am stocking up on the kleenex now.

Oh the places we will study and the snuggies we will wear when we homeschool.

Oh the books we will read when we homeschool. 

This one is a favorite!!

We had a few nice days in between a little ice and rain.  Hard to get in my steps when I can't get outside like I want.  

I can't believe that January has come and gone.  Graduation day is coming soon - yikes!!!

I'm teaching these to my preschool class and if 3-4 year old preschoolers can memorize them, surely we can too! We are also learning the ASL alphabet along with the verses too.

N is for...Matthew 6:24  - No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

For this verse - I do shorten so it is easier for the children to remember.  We just say - "No one can sever two masters!"

L is for...Matthew 22:37  - Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. Again with this verse, we say it starting with "Love..." and then I ask - Who said that?  And the children answer in their loudest voices - Jesus!!

If you really want to see preschoolers giggle, try saying this verse with your tongue sticking out.  I eat up their little giggles!

Another year has come and gone and maybe there are things you wish to change about the upcoming year but this verse is a great reminder that even when everything around us is constantly changing - Jesus never does!

Survey says...

Today, we would like to share with you a few of our favorite books.  Here is a list of our family favorites.  Let me tell you, it was not easy to choose!

Family Choice

If you have been a reader here before you probably already guessed our number 1 pick is The Bible. We use different versions but NLT is the most used.  We also use Bible Hub for parallel readings.  I have also shared some of our favorite Bible devotions in the video below.

Jonathan - 12th grade 

Jonathan's book choice was a recent book he was introduced to while completing the Illuminating Literature course.  I think the course is really helping him to enjoy literature more than ever.  The book he chose was Pudd’nhead Wilson by Mark Twain. The series he has read and recommends is The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings Series.

Stephen - 9th grade

 

Stephen chose to recommend the series of The Chronicles of Narnia and his all time favorite 2 books come from that series as well - The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, and Prince Caspian.

Sarah - 7th grade 

Sarah chose any Ameila Bedelia book as her favorite of all time and also recommends The Little House on the Prairie series.

Me (Mom)

My main reading genre usually aligns with self help, nonfiction so I chose Own Your Life by Sally Clarkson or any other book by her as well!  

For my homeschool mamas - I would also recommend Homeschool Supermom... NOT! When Grace Meets Homeschooling.
