Weekly Wrap Up - Week 1

School is back in session!  I say that but y'all know we never really stop.  :)  We had a fantastic first week!!  We always start back slow and steady hoping to set ourselves up for nothing but a successful year.  Of course, there are always bumps along the way but we learn from those too!

Here we go with our Senior, Freshman, and 7th grader - 2 in High School!!  Say what?  Where does the time go, y'all?  We have our fun Back To School traditions which now include coffee and of course - pajamas.  Yep, we are those homeschoolers!

What a way to start back - learning about atoms by beating an egg into meringue - that's my kind of science right there!

Seeing what states we can remember from last year and State Rummy - so fun and challenging!!

The week began with my birthday celebration.  Loved these beautiful roses and my sweet salad complete with a candle made by Sarah.  She made every meal I had that day!

And this friends is what really goes on in this homeschool.  Enjoy your days!!

Weekly Wrap Up - Week 22

The sun came out!  Yay, there's nothing like a little sunshine to push the itch for spring!

Overall it was another good week and we are continuing our state and president study which I just love.  Stephen and Sarah really enjoy it as well.  We're simply going over our state sheets that are provided with our curriculum.  They give little "did you know" facts, state birds, nicknames, postal abbreviations, etc.

We now have a Cadet Staff Sergeant residing in our home. We are so proud of Stephen's accomplishments and self discipline to keep moving forward.

Mom's update

Over the holiday season I gained back 10 of the pounds I worked so hard to lose...ugh.  So, I'm back to tracking and walking and so far I'm back down 5 of them.  This weight loss stuff is so hard. I get bored with tracking but it really helps me to know what I've put in my mouth.  I tried tracking calories with My Fitness Pal but just could never lose that way I wanted so it's back to points tracking with Weight Watchers.

Weekly Wrap Up - Another Week Of Snow and Ice!

God pressed pause on our schedules for one more week and I for one have to say that I have enjoyed this time to just be at home!  Does that mean our schedules are too full?  It just may.

Another great Word from my God.

We finally moved into our State and President study.  Oh, how excited I was to see how much I remember from our Classical Conversations days.

The cuteness you find on your phone when you have teenagers.  I can't believe how fast they are growing up....sniff, sniff!

Another week and snowman gone!

On to a brand new week with the strength of my Savior!  This week's Scripture Art Journals.

Weekly Wrap Up - The one with sickness!

This week pretty much didn't happen as far as normal "school" goes.  We had an ice storm most of the week so our schedules were set to pause.  We had our own ice skating rink on our porch.

Started our week with a little study on the tongue...

After the ice left, we had sickness to share with one another so the schedule continued to stay paused!

 Rest!

But it's all good and for His glory!

Weekly Wrap Up - Happy 14th Birthday Stephen!

Another one bites the dust!  We finished up Week 17 of My Father's World Exploration to 1850.

This week we learned about Spanish Missions and the "west Indies".  Science included seeds, germination, DNA, photosynthesis, and glucose, healthy diets.  Math consisted of more fractions, negative numbers, and balancing budgets.

Seed examination and dissection

Birthday Boy turns 14 - Happy Birthday Stephen!  He will be in the driver's seat before long!

This is what we do to you on your birthday - haha.  Stephen was a good sport and let us wrap him to show act out the story of Lazarus for Children's Church.

Fun Mail This Week

We were selected to show our #disneyside by having a Home Celebration party and this is all the goodies they sent us to have it with!  Sarah will be inviting some friends to join her in partying soon.

Weekly Wrap Up - Week 16

This week was our 2nd week back after our holiday break and it felt like we got a little of our groove back.  One thing God is teaching me is to follow His plans and I think I'm catching on a little!

This week we learned about Frederick the Great of Prussia, Catherine the Great, and the Tax Stamp Act in history.  We learned about plants, uniformitarianism, catastrophism, and a healthy diet in science.  Math consisted of fractions, negative numbers, and balancing budgets. Grammar and writing included a review of adverbs, adjectives, homophones, and when to start a new paragraph.  I can really see some independence in subjects beginning to surface all around.

Weekly Wrap - Another Week Bites The Dust

Another week has passed us by and we finished up week 9. Still plugging along through American History which is my all time favorite history to study.

We all found it eye opening to take a peek inside The New-England Primer.

A few more pictures from our week.

 In our life

I'm feeling fall fever coming on - anyone else?! We had revival this week along with our normal schedule.  It was awesome and always a great time of reflecting and growing. It all starts with me - love this song!  Click here if you can't see the video.

Read Alouds

Finished Amos Fortune - so good and yes I cried.  The tradition continues. :)

So now we're reading Madeline Takes Command.

Weigh In

Maybe I should just skip this section. Can I? Ok, I guess I will not. Good news is - still the same weight. Bad news - no exercise or tracking.

What I'm reading
