Weekly Wrap Up - Half of February is Gone!

I think I start every post out lately with the same words.  "The days are flying by!".  Remember when you first had your children and every "older" woman you met warned you about those days and how fast they would fly by?  Remember how you thought they were crazy?  Well, now I can join in with them and tell you that the days really do fly by.  Babies of yesterday are men and women of tomorrow!

In our year of milestones, Stephen celebrated his 15th birthday with his favorite pie.

Evidence of how those 15 years have flown by!

Another child on the road driving me around - yes, oh yes.  You know what I'm going to say.  They fly by!

To finish the week off we celebrated Valentine's Day a little early with some fun treats, encouraging words, and a dusting of snow!

Saw this fun idea on Pinterest and everyone loved finding their new note of encouragement on their door each day.  Pinterest win for sure!  Simple, inexpensive, and no extra calories included!

Marley enjoying the snow.

School is also moving along pretty quickly.  Next week would have been our break week but we're trying to keep going in order to completely finish by May 13th.

What's working for us right now is for me to stay on top of the week and make sure I get my weekly planning and preparation done for the week ahead. It doesn't take that long but it sure can put us behind when it is not done!

Here is a quick peak into those weekly planning sessions:

Stay tuned for some fun review products coming soon too. We're working on an awesome elections lapbook where I have also been learning a lot.  We are continuing to stick figure our way through the Bible, conquering Algebra mountains, learning the logic of English, and writing fun stories starting with writing basics as we conquer blank page syndrome as well.

Wrap Up With a Catch Up

Wow, December!!  The time surely does fly by!  We took a week break during Thanksgiving and I did not get in the planning time that I wanted as I tried to prepare for the last 3 weeks of the school year.  I really might try to plan a month off in December from now on.

Regardless, we are still trying to plug along!

We are mostly completing what absolutely needs to get done and saving the extras for Christmas time activities. Basketball season is still in full swing as well so car schooling is still a common site around here.

Stephen has been working hard and completed his next rank in Civil Air Patrol.

A hacker photo lol.  Whoever said teens aren't fun?

And one of the many reasons why I love My Father's World!

Here's to a wonderful Christmas season!

Back To Life, Back To Reality - Week 8

The break ended and so did my weekend getaway so this week it was back to somewhat normal.  I did plan for Week 8 before I left but I started the week with nothing but that done so I really felt like I floundered my way through everything else.  It worked, we survived but this week I want to start out more prepared!

This was my greeting as I returned back home this week - so sweet!

We hit the road for more car schooling as well.

We're studying the Civil War period and it just floors me the information that I do not remember learning at all.  I know history was extremely boring to me during school which is probably why.  I also can't believe how much I love learning about history now!

I did take the time to snuggle, relax, and enjoy When Calls The Heart!

It was 80's week at dance this week - can you tell?

I hope you have a had wonderful week! What was your favorite part of the week? Breaks and getaways are so needed and refreshing but I also find that getting back into a routine is refreshing as well.  Is that the case for you?

It's A Wrap - Week 6

Week 6 complete - that means for us is a break week is coming up!  I think we're all ready.  This may sound really confusing but we actually break our off week up into two half weeks corresponding to my husband's days off.

We pretty much just read in science this week and skipped any hands on activities basically because I didn't look at the supply list ahead of time and didn't have everything that was needed.  We also didn't have the time!  We hit the road a few times this week and took some school with us.

The morning air was a little crisper than we were expecting but we loved the cooler temps!

Marley finally got her sign up - made by Sarah!

We made it to the end of the week with our meals from the pantry and then made a huge Costco haul.  We really shouldn't skip Costco because we only go once a month and when we miss, it hurts!

Here's what we pulled from the freezer and pantry for meals.

Again, slack with the pictures. Hey this is real life and when you have to pick your priorities pictures don't always rank at the top.
I hope you have a had wonderful week! What was your favorite part of the week? School at the park was pretty awesome except for the wasps.

Week 5 - done!

Week 5 was a big blur and I am just catching up myself now. I ended up behind in every area - Bible study, book study, weekly plans, etc!  Motivation Monday coming up next to try to get this week back on track because it is extremely busy as well!

Stephen tried out for the JV homeschool basketball team and made the team so practices are three times a week until games start and then it is pretty much everyday of basketball - oh my!

I do not have a single picture that I took last week!  So instead I'll share some videos of the week.

The kids made this skit video a while back but I just got it posted.  They are a crazy, crazy bunch!

Here is what a busy week of dinners looks like at our house. The upcoming week we're going to be busy as well plus eating from the pantry until we make it to Costco on Friday. That should be interesting!!

I hope you have a had wonderful week! What was your favorite part of the week? Mine was just surviving.  :)

Weekly Wrap-Up - Week 4

This week included a little woodworking taught by dad and approved by Marley!  She's been needing a doghouse for a while now although she's pretty happy just stretching out on the porch.  It's fun to look out the laundry room window and see her chilling in her house.

A peak into our school this week looked a whole lot like last week and included.....
  • review of the states
  • early colonies and life, also a little on British colonies in other countries at the same time
  • US Presidents
  • more on elements, atoms, and molecules
  • fractions and math review

I hope you have a had wonderful week! What was your favorite part of the week? Cooler temperatures and lower humidity at the end of the week was my favorite part!

Weekly Wrap Up - Week 3

We were on vacation last week and it was extremely educational as we visited Washington, DC and loved every minute of it!  Perfect connection to our American History studies.

A peak into our school this week included.....
  • review of the states
  • early colonies and life, also a little on British colonies in other countries at the same time
  • US Presidents
  • more on elements, atoms, and molecules
  • fractions and math review
  • a 12th birthday to our Princess!!

I hope you have a had wonderful week! What was your favorite part of the week? I have 2 - celebrating my baby's 12th birthday and watching her excitement at the little things. She loves to make her own cake every year and I love to see what she comes up with! Also, Stephen and I started learning Spanish together. We've both had many laughs at our southern Spanish accents!

And here's a quote for the week that we saw while in Washington - love!

Weekly Wrap Up - Week 1

School is back in session!  I say that but y'all know we never really stop.  :)  We had a fantastic first week!!  We always start back slow and steady hoping to set ourselves up for nothing but a successful year.  Of course, there are always bumps along the way but we learn from those too!

Here we go with our Senior, Freshman, and 7th grader - 2 in High School!!  Say what?  Where does the time go, y'all?  We have our fun Back To School traditions which now include coffee and of course - pajamas.  Yep, we are those homeschoolers!

What a way to start back - learning about atoms by beating an egg into meringue - that's my kind of science right there!

Seeing what states we can remember from last year and State Rummy - so fun and challenging!!

The week began with my birthday celebration.  Loved these beautiful roses and my sweet salad complete with a candle made by Sarah.  She made every meal I had that day!

And this friends is what really goes on in this homeschool.  Enjoy your days!!
